Croydon Advertiser - 7th March 2008
Businesses were given a taste of how the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games can benefit them last Thursday. The Get Set London Roadshow rolled up to the Whitgift Centre in Croydon centre.
It's hoped the games will help get 70,000 people into work across the capital through culture, sport, business and regeneration.
At the roadshow, advice was given to businesses in how compete for contracts in everything from construction and tourism to hospitality and technology.
Mike Fleet from the Croydon Harriers athletics club said: "The Get Set London Roadshow is a great help because many people don't realise how they can get involved in the Olympic Games and what opportunities there are for them - not just through sport."
Steve Hollands, Croydon Council's cabinet member for culture and sport, launched the day.
He said: "Having the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London is a once-in-a-lifetime event and the Croydon Council is working hard to maximise the opportunities the games will be bringing to the borough."
